Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, "Aah, aah, aah"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y
- Firework, Katy Perry
If you've ever had an idea and implemented it, you've launched something. What you're having for dinner, where you're going on your morning run, how you'll manage to be on two conference calls at once, - hundreds of times a day, we launch into action. We do it so often, we don't even know that we're doing it anymore.
And yes, sometimes we fail. But we keep trying again and again, because well, when we do get off the ground it is pretty freakin' spectacular.
This month, we celebrate all launches, big and small, with a few of our favorites insights about that shift that gets you from doing nothing to something.
You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land, there is no other life but this.
Henry David Thoreau, Author, poet
It is not good enough for things to be planned - they still have to be done; for the intention to become a reality, energy has to be launched into operation.
Walt Kelly, Animator and cartoonist
If you believe you can, you probably can. If you believe you won't, you most assuredly won't. Belief is the ignition switch that gets you off the launching pad.
Denis Waitley, Speaker, author, The Psychology of Winning
The thing I'll remember most about the flight is that it was fun. In fact, I'm sure it was the most fun that I'll ever have in my life.
Sally K. Ride, First woman to orbit Earth aboard the Space Shuttle, 1983
